Dallas Mavericks to stand for Chinese National Anthem before every game
The Dallas Mavericks basketball team has announced that they will no longer play the US National Anthem before games. Instead players will stand in respect for the Chinese National Anthem.
A spokesperson at the Mavericks' front office said that the United States National Anthem is widely regarded as a symbol of American imperialism and white supremacy, and therefore it needs to be phased out. "What better way to atone for the illegitimacy of our country's existence than for players and fans to instead pay their respects to a country that is a great model for socialism. Karl Marx would be proud of the Dallas Mavericks."
Inside the front office trophy case, a bust of Karl Marx will be placed next to the Mav's 2011 Larry O'Brien NBA Championship Trophy.
Fans attending the game will be required to stand for the anthem. Anyone who takes a knee will be removed from the arena and have their season tickets revoked without refund.
