Comedy writer Robert Simmons once had a decent job writing monologues for the Jimmy Kimmel Show -- That's until Donald Trump came down the escalator. Robert, along with his comedy writing colleagues were all laid off, and replaced by DNC political propagandists. Robert was told by ABC executives that these were dark times in our nation’s history, not seen since George Bush was president, and that he would have to make sacrifices for the greater good. To make ends meet, Robert resorted to working as a waiter. But when the pandemic hit, Robert lost his restaurant job and found himself sleeping under a freeway overpass. He had hit rock bottom. But just when he was about to take up using heroin, Robert got the call that he thought would never come. A Democrat named Joe Biden was going to be the new incoming president, and on January 20th the Jimmy Kimmel Show was returning to being an actual comedy show. Robert’s comedy writing skills were once again in need.
The hiring going on at ABC's Jimmy Kimmel Show is not unlike what is happening at the other state-run TV networks. NBC and CBS are once again hiring comedy writers after 5 year hybernations from comedy. However, things are not as bright and rosy at other networks such as Comedy Central, HBO and TBS. Trevor Noah, John Oliver and Samantha Bee have never been funny ever. Accordingly, these networks still have no plans to ever hire comedy writers.
