NFL to increase quarterback diversity during playoffs
Of the 14 teams that reached the 2022 NFL playoffs, only five had black starting quarterbacks, two of which are merely half-black at best. That’s not enough. By the time the divisional rounds of 8 teams was reached, only one black quarterback remained, and he was one of the half-black quarterbacks. That’s a travesty. Now that the Rams and Bengals have reached the Super Bowl, no black starting quarterbacks remain. It’s time to inspire change.
The Rams actually have a backup quarterback on their roster who is black. The Atlantis Enquirer asked NFL commissioner Roger Goodell if a team could skirt around the rules by listing a black quarterback as the starter, let him/her play for one play, then bring in a white quarterback for the rest of the game. Goodell said “Absolutely not. Any team that tries that will automatically forfeit the game, then we’ll run woke commercials for the rest of the three hour event.”
Accordingly, for the 2022 - 2023 season, the NFL will mandate that 4 of the remaining 8 divisional round teams must each be led by a quarterback of color, preferably more than 4. Also, one of the two Super Bowl teams must have a starting quarterback of color, preferably both teams. It‘s all part of the NFL‘s commitment to end racism. It takes all of us.
